On Tuesday, May 24 Alabamians voted in the primary elections to choose their party candidates. A host of candidates ran against incumbent Governor Kay Ivey but they were no match for her. She won the Republican primary in a landslide with nearly 55% of the vote (unofficial results).

Republican Primary Governor Results.

Back in the pandemic days, Kay Ivey told Alabamians “It’s just 2 weeks” while allowing businesses, especially barbershops and hair salons, to be shuttered by mask mandates and forced closures while being fined by local police for simply going to work. Since that wasn’t bad enough, she allowed a new fuel tax to get shoved through adding 10 cents per gallon for gasoline and 16 cents per gallon for diesel.

Everyone likes to blame high fuel prices on the President, but remember a portion of the atrocious prices is Governor Ivey’s fault. How does this type of policy get you reelected in Alabama?
